Looking Back On 2012

Well, 2013 is upon us and it’s going to be a very exciting year with many new beginnings!

As I look back on the cakes I created in 2012, it’s so hard to choose which ones were my favourites. Every cake has it’s own story and special meaning to the person it was created for, so it’s tough to say which are “favourites” because they were all special in their own way!

Here are a few cakes that stand out to me. Some represent how I’ve grown as an artist, some were made for very special people in my life, and some were just so cool and fun to make!

They’re in no particular order, just look through & enjoy!

All the best in 2013!

Fabulous !! I haven’t seen this kind of cakes. It’s really awesome. I would like to celebrate my birthday with this type of cakes.

Retro Bowling Cake

Sometimes you need a little retro in your life!

I love how Katie & Tommy embraced the retro theme in their Jack & Jill bowling party.  I designed this cake using inspiration from the invitation that Katie created (below). The red & turquoise chevron print, and 2D bowling ball/bowling pins made this awesome theme come to life in cake form!

Congrats!

A New Twist on a Tiffany Themed Cake

Tiffany themed cakes usually consist of tiffany boxes or bags, with bracelets or jewellery. My clients wanted something more a little more classy, with a twist!

This cake had whimsical flowers with jewels in the centers, dangling pearls, and silver brooches with a minimal hint of Tiffany blue. Truly fit for a queen!

What a beautiful cake!!!! So classy and elegant. Perfect for a modern woman who loves Tiffany. It’s more than just the little blue box. Georgeous!!!!!

Nail Polish Cake

It’s been quite the busy summer, with all kinds of fun cakes going out, so I haven’t had much time to write blogs! I’m going to do a “summer 2012″ blog soon to show you all of the creations I’ve made in the past couple months. But for now, I thought I’d share something really cool!

I made this cool cake for a bride that had a Nail Polish and Pearl themed bridal shower this past weekend. It was so fun to make something like this, and I thank Mary, the bride to be, for making me have fun with it!

I call it a “beautiful mess” …and I love it! Hope you do too!

Congrats Mary!!!

Pom Pom Cake

For this bridal shower cake, I wanted to create a bit of whimsy while maintaining a classy look. The theme colours were navy, silver, and green with lots of bling. So, in matching the invitation as well as the green mums in the centrepieces, I created a cake with green pom poms that enhanced a white cake with lots of painted details and bling!

Congrats Iolanda on your bridal shower!
